Tracie Masek is a Senior Frontend Engineer on the Growth team at GlossGenius. Can You Tell Us About Your Role at GlossGenius?

As a Senior Frontend Engineer on the Growth team, my focus is on building features and experiences that help new users quickly see the value of GlossGenius. Most of my work centers around the web app, especially during a customer's first interactions — things like signing up, onboarding, and exploring the product during the free trial period.

What makes the Growth team especially fun is that we don’t really "own" a single part of the app. Instead, we get to collaborate across many different domains and work closely with other teams to ensure our customers have a smooth, engaging, and delightful first impression. That cross-functional teamwork is one of the things I enjoy most about my role. There’s a real shared commitment to our customers’ success, and it shows up in how we work together and continuously iterate to improve the experience.

What Have You Found to Be Unique About GlossGenius?

One of the first things that struck me when I joined GlossGenius was how deeply the company lives its values. It’s not just a set of words on a wall — everyone here is genuinely empowered to share ideas, suggest improvements, and contribute to making the product better for our customers. That level of ownership and trust is something really special.

On the engineering team specifically, the culture of mentorship and learning is truly world class. I’ve had the chance to work with incredibly smart and talented engineers — but even more impressive is how humble, collaborative, and supportive everyone is. People are always willing to take time to teach, pair, or just jam on a problem together, and there’s a real spirit of curiosity and continuous improvement.

GlossGenius is Customer-Obsessed. What Does This Mean in Practice to You, and How Does It Show Up in Your Work and the Initiatives You Oversee?

To me, being customer-obsessed means always building with empathy and listening closely to what our users need. At GlossGenius, customer feedback is constantly flowing — whether it's through shared insights from our support team or during our tech town halls, where we hear directly from customers about the challenges they’re facing. That input directly shapes what we work on, and we move quickly to iterate on solutions that make a real impact.

I also try to keep accessibility top of mind — it's easy to overlook, but making sure our app is inclusive and usable for everyone is a key part of delivering a truly delightful experience.

What Are You Most Excited To Build, Solve, or See Come to Life at GlossGenius This Year?

I'm really excited to keep evolving our onboarding experience to make it more personalized and helpful, so every customer can immediately see how GlossGenius fits their unique needs. It's all about helping them hit the ground running and feel confident using the platform from day one.

I'm also looking forward to contributing to ongoing improvements in our web app and design system. There's a big team focus on making sure every interaction feels seamless, polished, and genuinely enjoyable — and it's been a fun challenge to keep leveling up the experience while growing my own skill set along the way.

How Have You Grown Professionally and What Skills Have You Sharpened Since Joining the GG Team?

Coming to tech from a non-traditional background, I’ve been incredibly grateful for the chance to grow at a company like GlossGenius. Being part of a fast-moving team at a growing company has deepened my engineering skills and taught me so much about building high-quality products while staying true to a collaborative, team-first culture.

I’ve learned best practices from amazing teammates and gained insight from leaders on how to navigate growth while keeping that tight-knit feel. And I’d like to give a special thanks to our interns and my younger teammates for always taking the time to explain new acronyms and what “vibe coding” is. 

What Drew You to Join GlossGenius in the First Place?

I was excited about the chance to work on a product that helps people run their businesses more easily — there's something really rewarding about building something that's part of someone's everyday success story. What really sealed the deal, though, was the interview experience. Everyone I spoke to was not only sharp and thoughtful but also genuinely kind and excited about what they were building together.

That mix of mission-driven work, teamwork, and empathy made GlossGenius stand out — and I’m happy to say the experience has more than lived up to that first impression.
