What an amazing weekend at the Behind the Chair show 2021! We had an absolute blast being inspired by so many talented hairstylists and being surrounded by creative and passionate people once again. With GlossGenius being an official sponsor this year for the first time, here are four things we’ll always remember from our very first Behindthechair.com (BTC) show:
When Founder of BTC, Mary Rector said “Family Reunion,” she meant family reunion. The show opened up with a dark room, lone spotlight, and Mary walking out sharing how difficult the past year has been for the BTC family but more importantly reminding them of how much they’ve overcome. The warmth and feeling of reuniting again was the entire tone of the weekend set by not just Mary but other sponsors for the weekend including GlossGenius.
Tissues were definitely needed nearby when watching all the hairstylists accept their awards. With every category, so much talent blessed the BTC stage and we have no idea how the judges were even able to choose. From thanking their spouses, to colleagues and brands they worked with, every winner’s acceptance speech was full of gratitude and carried a consistent message to the audience sharing to “never give up on your dreams.
From using your initials as hair designs to how to charge a $175 haircut, we learned so much from all things beauty to biz. BTC is known to only bring the best of the best in our industry which only meant top tier tips and tricks for stylists to immediately use in their salon.
Consider us biased, but this just may have been our favorite part. It wasn’t just a reunion for stylists across the world but also for our GlossGenius team to meet with our incredible members whom many of them were nominated for an award themselves. We were so proud to see so many of their names called during the award show and see their work shine on the BTC stage.
